Emerging Artist Spotlight

Featuring White Horse Emerging Artist in Residence Muirġen with special guests & shortlisted Tom O’Donovan, Rebecca Ruane and Kendal Moody.

In early 2026, The White Horse launched its inaugural Emerging Artist in Residence program to develop live performance. Following an overwhelming volume of exceptional applicants, the judging panel selected Muirġen as the 2026 Artist in Residence. Due to the remarkable depth of talent, the venue created the Emerging Artist Spotlight to showcase the full shortlisted cohort of four original acts on the White Horse stage:

Muirġen: A Cork-born Irish-fusion artist blending traditional folk and electropop. Formerly trained classically, she worked in UK theatre and toured with the Grammy-nominated vocal group Celtic Woman. Her debut EP, Loinnir, features atmospheric production, stacked harmonies, and bilingual storytelling.

Kendal Moody: A Wicklow native and Cork School of Music graduate whose sound blends Americana, folk, and indie-rock. Known for story-driven songwriting and finger-style guitar, she has performed in Nashville, collaborated with US artists Tyler Booth and Isaac Cole, and recently released the single “Homegrown Prayer.”

Tom O’Donovan: A pianist and singer-songwriter from Castletownbere, West Cork. Also a member of the band Syano, his music draws lyrical inspiration from poets AE Housman, Patrick Kavanagh, and Ogden Nash.

Rebecca Ruane: A Galway songwriter and vocalist holding a Master’s in Vocal Performance from CIT Cork School of Music. She has backed acts including TOUCAN and Shane Filan, completed a residency under jazz pianist Phil Ware at the Triskel Arts Centre, and scored the production Tall Tail.
