Athena Tergis and Diarmuid Ó Meachair bring a masterclass in musicality to The White Horse for the 16th Annual Ballincollig Winter Music Festival.

Athena Tergis is an internationally acclaimed fiddler whose career has spanned from her early days in San Francisco to the starring roles of Riverdance on Broadway and Lord of the Dance in Las Vegas. A longtime collaborator of Riverdance composer Bill Whelan and the late Mick Moloney, Tergis is celebrated for a style that is both technically precise and deeply emotive. After years spent touring with legendary acts like the Sharon Shannon Band and The Green Fields of America, she now resides in Tuscany, but her musical heart remains firmly rooted in the Irish tradition.

Joining her is Diarmuid Ó Meachair, one of the most exciting accordion and melodeon players of his generation. A native of Cúil Aodha in the Múscraí Gaeltacht, Diarmuid’s playing is steeped in the rich heritage of West Cork. In 2022, he was honored with the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Ceoltóir Óg na Bliana (Young Musician of the Year) and has since become a member of the legendary band De Dannan. Known for his powerful rhythmic drive and virtuosic ornamentation, Diarmuid is also a renowned sean-nós singer, bringing a raw, authentic vocal tradition to the stage.
