Notes from the Earth

BWMF26 proudly presents Notes from the Earth, feat Mary Reynolds, Edwina Guckian, Colm O’Regan, Vincent Woods,  Alannah Thornburg & Diarmuid Ó Meachair.

BWMF26 proudly presents Notes from the Earth — a special evening of reflection, discussion and music exploring “Loving the Earth at a time of ecological crisis.” Part of the 16th Annual Ballincollig Winter Music Festival 2026, the event brings together leading voices from ecology, culture, comedy and traditional music.

Internationally acclaimed nature activist and reformed landscape designer Mary Reynolds leads the conversation. Best known for her Chelsea Flower Show breakthrough and the film Dare to Be Wild, Reynolds is the founder of the global movement We Are the ARK, advocating rewilding and acts of restorative kindness to the earth. Her work challenges us to rethink our relationship with the land and our role in protecting it.

She is joined by Edwina Guckian, award-winning dancer and community activist from Leitrim. Deeply rooted in Irish tradition, Guckian is founder of Áirc Damhsa Culture Club and artistic director of the Leitrim Dance Project. A recipient of the Gradam Comaoine TG4 and the Markievicz Award, she continues to reconnect music, movement and community.

Also featured is Colm O’Regan, critically acclaimed comedian, author and broadcaster. A familiar voice on RTÉ Radio 1 and creator of @irishmammies, O’Regan brings humour and insight to climate conversation through his award-nominated work Climate Worrier.

The evening is enriched musically by Alannah Thornburgh, RTÉ Folk Award–winning harpist and composer, whose acclaimed debut album Shapeshifter draws on folklore and contemporary harmony, and Diarmuid Ó Meachair, TG4 Young Musician of the Year, renowned accordionist and sean-nós singer from Cúil Aodha, Co. Cork.

Notes from the Earth is a thoughtful, multidisciplinary gathering—inviting reflection, inspiration and renewed connection with the natural world.
