Rebel Frequencies Triple Header: Skies Behind, Red Sun Alert and Ash Red

We’re very excited to bring you 3 more of Ireland’s finest up-and-coming bands on August 9th!

Skies Behind are a fully independent alternative rock band from Cork, Ireland. The band released a series of singles in 2023 which pioneered the band’s bangers only mentality.

Furthering this mentality, their new EP “The Spaces” was released on January 5th. This EP received an overwhelmingly positive reception with prominent Spotify playlist placements in New Music Friday UK, Alternative Ireland alongside reviews in The GOO Guide Dublin, HotPress, Golden Plec Irish Picks, Couch Magazine, Indie Boulevard, and many more.

In support of this release the band also embarked on their first ever Ireland & UK headline tour. “The Spaces Tour”, saw them play 12 headline shows all across the UK and Ireland in cities like London, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow. Highlights of this tour included a sold out home town show in Cork and packed out shows at Whelan’s – Dublin, Little Buildings – Newcastle, The Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham and Broadcast – Glasgow.

The band draw their influences from acts such as Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Pillow Queens, Bloc Party, Boygenius and many more. Skies Behind is Dan Sheedy (Vocals and Rhythm guitar), Joe Clarke (Drums) and Richard Brett (Lead Guitar).

Red Sun Alert is an up and coming post-hardcore band from Cork City, Ireland. They bring you a mixture of just about everything you want from modern heavy music. The four-piece outfit combines harsh vocals with angular guitar riffs and math-rock influences.

Since forming in late 2017, they have been busy making a name for themselves around the country, playing venues and festivals all around their small island. It’s also worth mentioning their success in the college music scene, where they regularly contribute by organizing various DIY gigs.

At the start of 2020, Red Sun Alert took their distinctive sound across borders, embarking on their debut Irish and UK tour in support of their single “I’m Upside Down for That’’, Soon followed by the release of their second single, “Sort It Out”.

As the band is gaining new fans abroad, they recently returned to the UK for another series of shows in celebration of their newest five-track EP “Assume Power”.

Red Sun Alert continues to push boundaries and break down barriers, remaining steadfast in their commitment to creating a more inclusive and diverse space within the world of heavy music. With their sound, they invite listeners to join them on a journey of empowerment, and solidarity.

Ash Red are a three piece alt-rock band from Cork, Ireland. They formed in January 2019 and comprise Isaac Walsh (drums), Arthur Murray (guitar, vocals) and Tadhg O’Keeffe (bass). FFO Smashing Pumpkins, Bauhaus, Hüsker Dü and The Psychedelic Furs.

The band has been actively delivering their unique sound to audiences since 2019. Despite undergoing a line-up change and difficulties due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Ash Red continues to draw inspiration from a wide range of musical genres to create their high-energy, atmospheric sound. With a wealth of live experience, including performances in every city in Ireland, Ash Red is a force to be reckoned with on stage. Their driving beats, soaring guitar lines and passionate vocals come together to create a live experience that is not to be missed. Whether you’re a fan of post-punk, alternative, classic rock or just great music, Ash Red will sort you.
