Dirk and Amelia Powell are a father-daughter duo from Southwest Louisiana, blending traditional and original music inspired by their family’s musical legacy. Dirk, known for his multi-instrumental talent and Grammy-winning collaborations, and Amelia, influenced by her Cajun fiddle legend grandfather, create soulful and authentic music.
Their work, particularly Dirk’s acclaimed album “When I Wait for You,” showcases a unique fusion of Cajun and Celtic influences. The OARS, a duo with Eoin Coughlan and Brian Morrissey, are releasing an album in January 2024, produced by Grammy winner Dirk Powell. Known for their compelling music and vivid lyrics, they’re planning an Irish tour in 2024 and attracting interest from European festivals.
